Company of Song is delighted to announce that Grammy Award winning songwriter Julie Gold will be joining their online songwriting retreat ‘From a Distance’ next week.

Julie is best known as the writer of From a Distance the multi-million selling hit for both Bette Middler and Cliff Richard, which has been covered by artists as diverse as The Byrds, Donna Summer, Judy Collins and Elaine Page. She will be appearing from her home in New York to take part in a Q&A Session that will cover all aspects of her songwriting career.

From a Distance is a three-day songwriting ‘retreat’ that you can attend from the comfort of your own home (you can even wear your slippers!) and songwriters of all levels are very welcome.

Carefully crafted and with expert tuition from Reg Meuross and Findlay Napier, two of the UK’s most respected singer-songwriters, the event will include Company of Song’s usual mix of workshops, exercises and inspiration, with plenty of support from Reg and Findlay with assistance from Company of Song founder Katie Whitehouse.

Together Reg and Findlay have developed a range of songwriting tasks and activities for ‘From a Distance’ – this will be a wonderful opportunity to escape the lockdown tedium and focus on writing songs, talking about songwriting, writing songs and connecting with like-minded people.

Participants will receive a clear timetable in advance with individual and group tasks that will stretch and challenge their writing, and they will have the chance to perform songs for Reg and Findlay in song clinics and receive expert feedback and guidance on how to progress in their writing.

Suitable for all levels.

The retreat runs on Zoom from 10am Tuesday 2nd Feb to 8pm Thursday 4th Feb 2021, with plenty of writing time, Q&A sessions, and live performances from Reg and Findlay.
