The Ciderhouse Rebellion

| January 31, 2018

The Ciderhouse Rebellion is an exciting new duo bringing together two seasoned musicians: violinist Adam Summerhayes and master accordionist Murray Grainger. The pair play traditional tunes, particularly from the North East, write their own music and specialise in creating within the moment – each performance is uniquely magical in its improvisatory focus.

“Grainger’s accordion with Summerhayes’s fiddle is especially beautiful” (Songlines).
Adam Summerhayes has been described as a “Paganini of the traditional violin” (fRoots)

They are releasing a new and entirely improvised album, UNTOLD – a unique three track 50 minute improvisation recorded live in a single take, in February 2020 and another album of traditional folk tunes in October 2020. Their live gigs will be a mix of improvisation alongside their take on traditional material, particularly from the North-East, and their own tunes. It is their unusually improvisatory focus that is quite magical.
