The Great Hall Sessions – Jambones & Colourful Genre
31 December 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Tier 2 restrictions may now be in place for Devon, but the show must go on! The Black Bird Collective, fromthewhitehouse and Dartington are slightly adjusting the hugely popular Saturday live music nights to work with these new guidelines. We present: Great Hall Sessions Supper Club…
We are inviting you to join us on cabaret-style, candlelit tables for a super special music and dining experience. We have a wonderful line-up of acts playing each Saturday in December (two per evening), and a menu full of delicious local and ethically produced suppers courtesy of the White Hart (including veggie and vegan options) – plus a bar fully stocked with great drinks from the south west.
SAT 31 DEC: Mae Karthauser Trio
The perfect way to see in the new, and hopefully better, year. Former Dartington student Mae Karthauser is an eclectic singer-songwriter with a rich, acrobatic voice and a distinctive circusesque piano style. Drawing on expansive folk and world influences, her songs are vibrant and moody and tell of wayward characters both human and animal, exploring what is faithful in a world of mirrors. Mae’s vocals leap and weave alongside the bounce of piano, Rhodes or accordion, the warm basslines of Rich Taylor and the explosive rhythms of Ric Byer.
She has toured extensively in France and across Europe and has collaborated with contemporary circus companies – most notably on BBC Two’s The One Show, where she played whilst harnessed off the edge of BBC Television studios with The Flying Frenchies. Alongside collaborative work, she has recorded three albums and performs solo and with “The Midnight Fairground”.
